Project 4 - Students Education Sponsorship - 2010

Friends,

Thanks for the comments and co-operation for the new initiatives. As we are still thinking on the projects #2 and #3, now its time again to act on continuing the Students Education Sponsorship for the academic year 2010-11. As we started very late last year, we were able to sponsor only 31 students. This year we need to act quickly to cover those 31 students plus maximum number possible.

So this is the time to act. Initially we are planning to intimate all the last year sponsors to confirm the sponsor for the same kid. They may want to sponsor more than last year also. In that case , we can cover more people with the same number of Sponsors.

The next thing we are concentrating on is to add additional sponsors who are willing to sponsor every year or only once. Existing sponsors may rope in new sponsors as well. We are planning to communicate this plan to more people to generate more funds to cover more students from under privileged families.

Soon we will be sending the modes of fund transfer for this cause. Support once more for a good cause.

Project 3 - Reach the Class Room

Schools use to have a Moral Science hour in a week. We need to rope in the school officials and the corporates to conduct a combined session during these hours. The topics can cover any of the following

  1. Values
  2. Traffic Rules
  3. Good Manners
  4. Various Higher Studies available for them to choose
  5. Story Telling (Patriotic / Inspirational / Moral)

To make them more interesting, people need to use various presentation methods and equipments. (like projectors, cartoons, music, animation and traditional presentation methods) Need to use the bench strength of the company to conduct these sessions continuously. We need to start with one school (where kids are pre dominantly from economically backward families) and then try expanding it to more schools. When the program get expanding to more schools, we need to tie up with more corporates.

Project 2 - Teach a Skill

When we are in the process of leveling the playing field, we need to offer a life skill to kids who are not in a position to afford the costs of learning. Following are the few possibilities to consider for this project (need to select the course depends on the age group)

1. Providing week end computer clasees on MS-Office and Internet. (preferably for 4 to 5 week ends) Conducting tests at the end of the course and provide them certificates with the accredition of corporates.

2. Language Training in week ends with fun activities. (Spoken/written Hindi & English)

3. Music instrument training. (A simple instrument like flute, guitar etc.)

4. Computer Hardware training.

Project 1 - Child Education Sponsorship

As our first step towards bringing the socially conscious, broadminded individuals to address the educational needs of the deserving candidates, we started our journey with Education Sponsorship Program.

Our effort has been made significantly easy and successful, with generous people, not only contributing personally but also pulling in friends and relatives!

With the contributions from like-minded people, we were able to reach 31 odd students pursuing their education (Std VI to Std XII), with amazingly high spirits - laughing at the burden, life has placed on their tender shoulders - and an envious courage to take on this world.
Thank you All for setting an example for others to emulate.

List of students belonging to the chain of Ramakrishna Mission Schools in Chennai, along with brief information about their scores in their previous academic year and their Sponsors is posted in the blog.

Special Thanks to......
LIBA V volunteers who involved in interactions with the schools.
Nanda and Sooraj, who roped in as many well wishers from their side.
PTS who initiated the discussion and gave us moral support throughout the exercise.
